Recently I had the good fortune to attend the 2014 American Art Therapy Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Whew…… it was busy and lots of fun. Reconnected and connected with friends old and new. I also recently returned for a visit to the city of my graduate work in Louisville, Kentucky at the Univ. of Louisville. This is where I received my training and graduate degree under professors I respected and who supervised and taught me daily. Thus the picture of my old classroom in Gardiner Hall above in homage to that time.
What struck me on my visit was how grateful I am for the training and guidance I received from professors who were pioneers in their field. Some say that you have to be one or the other…an Art Therapist or a Counselor….. However, I have grown to believe I can be an Art Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Sometimes I am one and sometimes I am the other….. and sometimes I may use both hats in the same session. Grateful again for all I have today and the clients and families I am able to help.
